THE LOVE AND ANGER OF GOD

I have read the Holy Bible through a number of times, starting in my youth. Later, after I had married and was working with my wife in the teaching of our 4 children, I bought a book titled "BED TIME BIBLE STORIES". I read from it each night to our children, followed by a time of prayer. As the children grew, we read the Bible through, two or three chapters each night.

My wife, now my third bride, read the Bible through each year. With us, reading the Bible through, has become an adventure. We have become more aware of God's love and mercy; of His anger when one sins. We are learning how God rewards and how He punishes. Recently we read about Solomon in I Kings 9:1-9

           1. And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord and the king's
house, and all Solomon's desire which he wanted to do.
           2. that the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon.
           3. And the Lord said to him: "I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have
made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there
forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.
           4. "Now if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in
uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes
               and My judgments,
           5. "then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever,  as I promised David
your father, saying, 'You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'
           6. "But if you or your sons at all turn from following Me, and do not keep My commandments
and My statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them,
           7. "then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and this house which I
have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight. Israel will be a proverb and a
                byword among all peoples.
            8. "And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and
will hiss, and say, 'Why has the Lord done this to this land and to this house?'
            9. "Then they will answer, 'Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers
out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, and worshiped them and served
them; therefore the Lord has brought all this calamity on them.'" (NKJV)

My wife and I have interesting discussions each day as we read God's Holy Word. I have thought of this scripture many times before and especially now as we all watch how events unfold in Washington and around the world. I look back at the history of how our Founding Fathers built this great land. They strove to build a nation founded on Biblical principles, with our rights and freedoms being built around the FREEDOM TO WORSHIP GOD AFTER THE DICTATES OF OUR OWN HEARTS. They were getting away from worshiping as dictated by the ruling authorities of the land, in their case, the King of England.

Sitting at my desk with open Bible, meditating, praying and searching the scriptures I was led to this:

"For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through
patience and comfort of the Scripture might have hope." Romans 15:4 (NKJV)

Also: "Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall."  I Corinthians 10:11,12 (NKJV)

The leaders of our nation would be well advised to heed the warning God gave to Solomon, because of another important scripture:

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)

Just as surely as sunrise follows sunset, just as surely will God levy his wrath on those who stray from Him. Our nation has abandoned the sanctity of life with abortion on demand, Ten Commandments in public is illegal, a Nativity Scene in public is illegal, prayer and the Holy Bible in schools is illegal, is allowing man marry man and woman marry woman, thus desecrating the sanctity of Holy Matrimony which was designed and setup by God Himself. Mankind would have never in ten million years designed Holy Matrimony between a man and a woman, but would have lived life like a dog. May God forgive America and set her paths again into the Straight and Narrow.
