PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL WORSHIP

AS THE SUNFLOWER FACES THE RISING OF THE SUN
TO ITS SETTING, SO SHOULD THE CHRISTIAN
                                                                BE ALWAYS LOOKING TO GOD.

God created man to have fellowship with Him - to be worshipful toward Him. When man sinned and fell God did not remove from him the emotion of having a need to worship. Satan entered the Garden and placed in man's mind a deformed mental concept of his need to worship. This internal Spiritual-GPS has been misdirected to worship things made by man's own hands; i.e. cars, houses, possessions, gold, money, images of stone or wood that are powerless, empowered only by man's twisted imagination.

Only the blood of Christ can redirect the internal SGPS or the need to worship back to Jehovah Jirah, the God of creation. God's glory and our joyful celebration of His love in worship should be the focus and goal of our life and ministry. Yes, our very life, whether as a computer programmer, electrician, medicine, carpenter, accountant, laborer, farmer, etc is to be a ministry honoring God, as so aptly expressed by the Apostle in Colossians 3:17 (nkjv) - ". . . . do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father . . . "  See also I Corinthians 10:31 and I Peter 4:11.

The burdens of life are too heavy, and its duties are too hard, for anyone to bear alone. No one who plunges himself into the affairs of the world without God can easily escape one of two sad alternatives. Either he is utterly wearied and disgusted with their triviality, and dawdles out a life that is sluggish and dull; or like the ancient queen, who plunged herself passionately into it, and dissolves in the cup, the precious jewel of her own soul.

There is, then, but one escape and that is to have Christ Jesus as our Lord, make His will our law, His love our motive, His pattern our example and His glory our end.
