MY FATHER’S WORLD

My parents have been gone from this world a long time. My Dad, who survived my Mother by 11 years, passed away in 1988, at the age of 79. Having grown up during the time that America’s primary industry was farming, Dad had become a master farmer. He had the reputation of “making a seed grow” when no one else could. I heard many people say that my dad had the most beautiful garden and fields of corn and cotton in northern Louisiana! Be that as it may, I can truly say that no part of our little farm was ever neglected – not the crops, not the chickens, not the cows, not the horses, not the timbered acres and not the house and family.

As I consider the attention my dad gave to his family and farm, moves me to ask, “CAN THE GOD WHO RULES THE VASTNESS OF THE UNIVERSE BE CONCERNED ABOUT ONE LITTLE PLANET WAY OUT THERE SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MILKY WAY, WHICH IS ONLY A SMALL CLOUD IN THE ENDLESS REACHES OF THE UNIVERSE?”

Scientists tell us that the sun, which is many times larger than the earth, is some 93 million miles away, and, is about 3,000 million miles from Neptune! Can the God who conceived such inconceivable vastness, be interested in me? Because no place is  beyond the reach of Jehovah God is the very attribute that makes Him Omnipotent, Omniscience and Omnipresent. These three attributes that makes God able to reach the furthest star, also enable Him to stoop down to reach the lowliest human on this small speck called Earth.

We are all familiar with the parable of the Good Shepherd who leaves the 99 sheep to go find the one lost sheep. We have no problem seeing this analogy in relation to sheep and evangelizing to bring lost souls into the church. In addition to this I can visualize God sending Jesus far out into the far reaches of the universe, seeking to rescue one stray planet in a far flung galaxy, as He leaves the planets in other galaxies that are safe away from danger of Satan.

This is our Father's world. Of all birds, the Sparrow is the most insignificant. Yet our Father even knows when one of them falls - Matthew 10:27-31. What a wondrous assurance! Jesus Christ is God's UNIVERSAL POSITIONING SYSTEM. We are never beyond His TOUCH, SIGHT, SOUND or SMELL! God is not only our Father by virtue of the fact He made us and preserves us, but also He has taken us into His family by the redeeming work of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Assuredly, in a very special way every believer can say with joyful assurance, "MY WORLD IS MY FATHER'S WORLD!"
