Faith That Motivates

Our country in these polarized times is in desperate need of civility and intelligence. There is a dire need of analysis and corrections of conservative misinformation in the media. True Faith motivates one to get their information correct.

Man being made in the image of God, is cursed by sin, and can only be saved by a relationship with Jesus Christ. Since we live this side of man’s fall, that means that everything we do, we do imperfectly. This is the reason we to keep the Holy Word of God, the Bible, near to our hearts and actions. A man traveling deep inside a forest, needs a compass. We are traveling deep in the forest of human nature and interactions of human wills. Therefore we need the only Compass there is for those circumstances – God’s Holy Bible.

I learned from my parents, then learned further in school and Bible College and secular college of the frailties, faltering that are a part of what it means to be human. Every human is made in God’s image and should be treated with dignity, respect and kindness. We humans, made in the image of God, are the stewards of creation. We all, including Christians, live between what Bible Students call the “now and not yet.”

God created the idea of government, and is to be a reflection of His authority. Human government is imperfect and subject to human sin, because it is run by imperfect humans. Human government is not for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God. Rather government is to stay out of the way of the Kingdom (or the church), as it’s primary function is the advancement of justice.

In reality good government is one that promotes justice and protects people made in the image of God; ultimately acknowledges and respects the people rights as being accountable to their Jesus and God, their Creator. No one can worship God and call himself a Christian, while at the same time ignoring Jesus’ example in their work place and everyday life.

Those of us who have Christ as our Savior, faith in God, involved in church, should be involved in the political process, but not at the expense of Christian values. We must always put our faith before politics.

Christians, people of faith, are in are a unique position as a uniting force. Faith is an anchor outside the definition set by our political system, and is, I believe, powerful enough to force our leaders and politicians to listen up.
