Jesus walking on the Sea

Of all the commands in the Holy Bible, "Do not be afraid", is found far more often than any other. Here are two that are very familiar. One is found in Matt. 14:22-27., when Jesus was approaching the disciples who were in a ship caught up in a storm on the Sea of Galilee. Another is in Luke 1:30, when Gabriel told Mary she was to give birth to the Son of God.

We are living in such perilous times that such comforting words of assurance whispered in our ears would certainly be a comforting assurance - "Do not be afraid", all is well, God has it all under control.

Christianity has always been in the minority, even in America. Our Founding Fathers had a love/fear concept of God and Christ, that was so strongly woven into the patriotic fabric of America that everyone, Christian and non-Christian alike, had a strong belief of right and wrong, justice and injustice. For most of the United States first 150 years a man's word was his contract and a hand-shake was his seal. Abraham Lincoln, as a young man, walked a mile in a heavy down pour of rain to take a penny back to a man because he had mistakenly charged him too much for an item he sold the man.

America has been on a slippery slope for sometime. It seems that most have forgotten what is right and wrong. Christianity is increasingly coming under attack. I don't know when the U. S. Supreme Court first started making rulings and decisions contrary to the Bible and Christian principles, but for starters I will mention a few we are all aware of:

1962 - - Prayer and the Holy Bible removed from the public schools.

1973 - - Abortion made legal via Roe vs. Wade.

1980 - - Display of the Ten Commandments no longer permitted in public places.

2015 - - ACA approved by U.S. Supreme Court (abortions included now be paid

                                  for by public money).

             2015 - - Homosexual marriage legal.

It is becoming increasingly imperative that Christians - all Christians everywhere - repent of their sins in sincere prayer, as in II Chronicles 7:14 -

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray

and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from

Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (NKJV)

Paul tells us in II Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJV).

Further, we are reminded that it is not easy in II Corinthians 4:8-9

"We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." (NKJV)

Paul also says in verse 6, "For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

We should not fear man who cannot take our soul. We need to take heart during these troubling times. and having done all, STAND!!
