Today the citizens of the United States celebrate its birthday. What should be our distinctive role in this celebration? Truly God has showered uncounted blessings on America beyond measure. But, why has God been so free with His blessings?

In 1776 the Continental Congress was presented with The Declaration of Independence. It was signed by 56 men who gave their all for freedom to worship God of the Bible after the dictates of their own hearts, commonly know as "religious freedom",  Of these men about 50 were dedicated Christians, but All had their names listed on a church roll. One started a Bible Society, one put all 150 Psalms to music. The list can go on and on impressively.

The churches of which various ones were members of were, Presbyterian, Quaker, Episcopalian (2 Deists), Congregational (2 Unitarian), and Catholic. William Livingston and Fisher Ames leaned toward Calvinism.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the current Congress was as heavily Christian and/or sympathetic to Christian causes? Our nation desperately needs the salt and light of Christian witness and action! Dishonesty, greed, profanity, divorce and sins of sexual impurity are all about us.

It has been said there will never be another team like Billy Graham, George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows. It is my sincere prayer that this prediction is very wrong. America is in dire need of a NATIONAL REVIVAL. God has brought revival across America 3 times before. We must pray for Him to bless America with another great revival.

There are many great ministers and pastors that are working and praying for such an event involving America returning to God once more. Among them are John MacArthur, Robert Jefferies, Jack Graham. Great men that God has used in the past are R. C. Sproul, D. L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon, John Newton, Jonathan Edwards, Alexander Campbell - the list is endless.

In Concert with other God-fearing citizens we are to do all within our power to stay the spread of moral decay which threatens our nation. Salt that is not applied is worthless. Let us pray, speak and work for the welfare of the land we love.
