“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves,

and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,

then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and

heal their land.”  II Chron. 7:14 (NKJV)

I can clearly remember when it really did not matter which political party was in power in America. Basically both parties, or whatever party existed at the time, wanted that which was best for America. The primary difference between them was implementation, or how to go about putting into place a good idea. The same was true with members of Congress. Both parties in both houses had in mind only that which was best for America.

This may have began to change earlier than I realized, but I noticed the change starting in about 1963, when the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the Holy Bible and prayer in our schools were unconstitutional. Slowly, but surely the attitude of what is best for America began to shift to “WHAT IS BEST TO GET ME RE-ELECTED?” Voters began to think in terms of what was best for them rather than what is best for the country. President Kennedy apparently saw this shift coming, as he urged Americans, “ASK NOT WHAT CAN MY COUNTRY DO FOR ME, RATHER, ASK WHAT CAN I DO FOR MY COUNTRY”.

Nations are very important to God. There are numerous examples of nations brought to demise or into prominence because of bad leaders that dishonored God or good leaders that honored God. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” (NKJV) This is where America now finds herself. There is a powerful spiritual battle going on for the very soul of our beloved America. Our leadership is being weighed in the balances, as in Daniel 5:27 and “found wanting”.

The politicians in Washington believe they have won a battle. Anytime money is loaned, the only winners are the lenders. The apparent agreement now in Washington is to allow the government to borrow $2.4 trillion dollars over the next year against cuts in the budget of $2 Trillion dollars over the next 10 years.

Two mistakes, among others, have been made in the past. FIRST – in the early part of the 20th century, the creation of the Federal Reserve, and Congress yielding to them their “right to coin money and regulate the value there of” was a mistake. The Constitution specifically gives that power to Congress, thus making the Federal Reserve unconstitutional, therefore illegal. SECOND – when America went off the gold standard it should have been opposed and not allowed to happen.

Only a generation ago the United States was the world's greatest lending nation. Today it is the most indebted nation in the history of the world. The key is returning to the Constitution, restore the Gold Standard and print their money, and not borrow it. I believe there is still enough gold in the tailings at all the abandoned gold mines, only in Colorado, to reinforce our money plus pay the national debt. Add to that all the gold in the tailings in California, Arizona, Nevada, the Dakotas, and only God knows where else and America's problem is resolved! The modern technology for gold removal and refining, can remove several times as much gold from all those tailings, as was removed back during the Gold Rush craze and since!!

In the Constitution, Section 8, fifth paragraph gives Congress the power “To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof . . .”.  This same Section 8 does give Congress power to both tax and borrow. The point is they now want to ONLY tax and borrow. At the rate Congress is currently borrowing, we will borrow ourselves into oblivion. They cannot tax enough to pay off the national debt – which means they can take all the money there is — leaving the voter destitute, and still not have enough money. Constantly raising the debt ceiling level is not the answer. This is like raising the blood alcohol level to solve drunk driving!!!!! Spending cannot be totally eliminated, but it can be kept at a level of only that which is necessary. By adhering to the Constitution and putting back in place the Gold Standard, there would be no need to borrow money, and taxes could be minimized, even eliminated.

But, returning to the Constitution and re-establishing the Gold Standard, we must also apply a good quantity of common sense! FIRST: - Currently Medicare, Medicaid and insurance company's will only pay for prescription medicine. All three must be expanded to cover alternative medicine. Cancer, for example, is worth $150,000 to a medical doctor. I cured my cancer for under $200 dollars 17 years ago. SECOND: Most of our oil comes from those who would like to see us dead. This is preposterous! America has oil reserves in Alaska alone that dwarfs the oil Arabia has. We must develop it now - time is of the essence. THIRD: Make government employees payroll comparable to that in the private sector. Currently, outside the medical field, the best paying jobs in America is with government. And their money comes from We the People! FOUR: a person serving our country in Washington should not be a life ambition to retire from. Their pay should also be comparable to the private sector. When his or her three terms are up they should return back to private employment, not government retirement.

But this is small peanuts in restoring America to her former glory, power and dominion. We need a national revival, far greater than any we have ever experienced. America’s problem is not military, is not economic, is not immigration, is not technological, is not social, and is not good jobs and unemployment nor any of a dozen other possible scenarios. America’s problem is pure and simply stated: immorality!

Since 1973, it has been estimated that there are about 3,000 abortions daily, totaling approximately 41 million in 38 years!! A momentous effort is attempting to brain-wash us into accepting homosexuality as normal and right. Marriage other than as God Himself ordained it in the very beginning is being pushed. The ACLU is pushing to criminalize Christianity, which is converse to our Constitution.

There are no politicians that will be able to restore America to her former power. This momentous job is a God size job; in other words, only a miracle will save America. Just think of this: When God told Noah he was going to destroy the world with a flood but saving of Noah and his family was a God size job. Only God could master-mind that which He had Noah do - build an ark and round up all those animals. That was a God-job, not one a mere man could do.

Later, when God told Moses go to Pharaoh and rescue His people, that was not a job any man could do in his own genius. Only God could master-mind the liberation of the Hebrews being delivered from Egypt and delivered into the Promised Land. That is where America is now. There is no man or woman or any group of people that can engineer the saving of America and returning her to her former power and glory. He or she must have God as their power source.

The three key words in that verse are: HUMBLE, PRAY and SEEK. The majority of those in Washington are anything but humble. And since they have made and upheld abortion laws, have not opposed anti-nativity rulings, apparently approve special rights for homosexuals, have not turned a hand against removing prayer and the Bible from schools, have opposed the saving of traditional marriage, it does not appear likely there will be much praying from Washington. We, the people, with God, can change this.

As God has stated in His Word, it is up to His people to pray and then stand up to be counted. The days of standing by and letting Washington do it are over. We must be looking over their shoulder and breathing down their neck as we pray. The answer at the question at top of this devotional is a resounding "YES!" - only if we respond to God's warning/offer  - "IF MY PEOPLE. . . . ".
